Super Street, December, 2012
Wow, 2012, you kicked serious ass, where do I begin? For starters, we can thank a handful of auto manufacturers for bringing serious heat to the table both this year and next as enthusiasts everywhere will have plenty of options to choose from when it comes to excellent base platforms—some cars I enjoyed this year were the Fiat Abarth, Lexus’ GS 350 and LS 460 F Sport editions and the two hottest joints that have surely set our world on fire, the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S. More importantly, the FR-S helped spark a new campaign within our company as we, Super Street, for the first time, linked up with our friends at Import Tuner and Modified for the mega Garage FR-S project—this month we highlight the modifications we’ve taken on for Phase 1’s build (and next month you’ll see the final feature); keep reading and visiting garagefrs.com for our big future plans on the car, and also so you can keep current on all what’s trending for the popular sports coupe. I guarantee it’s going to be a winner!
This year we did more traveling, something we used to do a lot back in the day when I first started, and while the events aren’t as plentiful as they were, that doesn’t mean the quality hasn’t kicked up. Last winter I made a promise to bring our staff from as far west as Hawaii all the way to the East Coast—by partnering with Wekfest, we’ve not only been introduced to cars we’d never seen before, but we’ve made great friendships in those towns to help introduce those same cars to you in this very magazine, so huge thanks to the entire Weksos crew for your efforts. If there’s an event you think we should check out, please email us to keep us in the loop. We’d like nothing more than to see our readers and the cars they’ve worked so hard on so that they, too, can have a chance to be in this magazine. For 2013, we’ll be teaming up with Wekfest again for a complete tour of the US and will be announcing details and cities once logistics are finalized. We will be selecting one car from every show as a winner to be featured in Super Street!
But of course, no year is complete without the support of you, the readers, the companies who support us and the hardest working staff I know who are dedicated to making sure Super Street remains the magazine you can rely on every month for crazy good content and beyond. I’d like to formally welcome Nate Hassler to our staff, who recently joined us after a brief stint at Modified—his photographic expertise will lend greatly to the overall look of SS as we move forward into 2013. So, get ready everyone—we have many special things waiting for you!
