Northeast of the main hollywood strip, I'm sitting in a small bar that's a tad too clean and way too crowded to be considered a dive. Despite the commotion, I'm mesmerized by the girl sitting in front of me, Corissa Furr, a girl that's as sweet as she is hot. "It's happy hour from 10pm to 12am," explains Corissa, "half-off drinks." Amazed that a girl who just today flew in from the East Coast managed to find the only bar in the greater metropolitan Los Angeles area to offer peak happy hour, we settle in to what could be the best post-photo shoot interview venue, ever.
Import Tuner: It's about time we were finally able to coordinate thisphoto shoot.
Corissa Fur: It's been over six months, but I held out for Import Tuner!
2NR: And we appreciate it. So how did you get into modeling?
CF: years ago, my roommate was doing some modeling and I would go with her to photo shoots as a favor. After a while, I started to get in front of the camera. From there, I started setting up as many shoots as I could for a portfolio.
2NR: Was your roommate into the import scene?
CF: No, actually, she was more in the "adult" scene. but I didn't want to go in that direction. So I went my own way with it. I got into the import scene because Import Velocity (a media coverage group) found me on oMp. They took me to my first car show.
2NR: So you're from a small town?
CF: boonsboro is a really small town in western Maryland. Everybody knows everybody. There were only two stoplights on the main street with no chain stores. All we had was a little family owned market. but they had the best fresh meat...yum.
2NR: on the topic of fresh yummy meat, what do you look for in a guy?
CF: he has to have a great personality. huge egos are a big turnoff. A great sense of humor is a must. I like to goof off and be really dorky, so he has to have the same qualities in order to play along. I'm also attracted to guys who have a strong sense of dedication and family values. Cleanliness and style play a part, too. I hate men that I have to clean up after all the time.
2NR: I take it you've been out with some slobs in the past?
CF: I wouldn't necessarily say "slobs," but guys who didn't particularly care about their appearance as much as they could. or maybe they thought I should do all the cleaning since I'm the woman. but I'm a working girl, so it should be even. one person cooks, the other does the dishes. That's fair, right?
2NR: Sounds fair to me. I'm good with Windex and I cook a mean spaghetti.
CF: yum. I make the best spaghetti.
CF: No! I use diced tomatoes, green peppers, onions, celery, tomato paste, and lots of meat and spices. I can't tell you all the ingredients though, you'll steal my recipe!
2NR: Celery? Eww. you forgot one key ingredient! It's good when it's cooked!
CF: What, the noodles?
2NR: Me![Eerie silence] Um, just kidding, I, uh, meant garlic! Is it me or is getting hot in here? [Attempting to flag down a waitress] Waitress! Another round! So besides spaghetti, do you cook?
CF: When I have the time, I do. I find it to be very therapeutic and rewarding. you get to enjoy the work you put into it and it's always nice to hear how much other people enjoy your food.
2NR: Embarrassingly, there's something we both have in common... We were both in band during our Junior high years. What instrument did you play?
CF: [Laughs] Embarrassingly? I was a cool band geek, okay! [Laughs] I played the clarinet. I actually continued band throughout high school. Eventually I became the drum major and conducted the entire band! It was fun.
2NR: have any, "This one time at band camp..." stories?
CF: Well there was this one time that we were on a long bus trip and one of the girls had to pee really bad. We had plastic buckets for our hats so that they wouldn't get damaged while we traveled. So she peed in a bottle, catching the excess in her hat bucket. by the time we got back to the school, somehow, everyone on the other four buses knew about it!
2NR: The protagonist in the story, her last name wouldn't be synonymous to "animal hair" would it?
CF: No, it definitely was not me! I was drum major! I had to be a role model. but I still laughed.
2NR: you've been touring with hIN, how do you like the show scene?
CF: The scene is even more exciting than I could have imagined. I won the title of Miss hIN DC last April and I toured almost every city after that. Since then, I have had so many opportunities, it's almost overwhelming. I am featured in the Juiced 2: hot Import Nights video game, I got to host hIN TV and interview celebs like Tera patrick, Sean Kingston and huey, and I've had so much exposure in print and television! The parties are a good time, too! Working with all these different people and companies and meeting new faces and friends in every city, it's awesome. I love it!
2NR: Favorite city?
CF: It's a toss up between Chicago and Miami. The people really know how to party in both of those cities! And the general attitude of the people; they're very outgoing and friendly. I might be inclined to lean more toward Miami, simply because of the weather. you said you've never been to Miami?
2NR: No, I haven't. It's the last city in the States that I really want to go to.
CF: you have to plan your next vacation there! Stay in South beach. It's gorgeous.
2NR: Sounds like a date! you, me, South beach? When do you want to go? [More eerie silence] Waitress!
2NR: So, which import models do you think are hot?
CF: They're all hot, but I would have to say Ursula Mayes is one I look up to. She's absolutely gorgeous, inside and out. And, she's funny as hell, too!
2NR: Agreed-totally hot and cool. Any embarrassing moments you'd like to divulge.
CF: okay, this one comes to the top of my mind, because it recently happened...
2NR: Does it involve a bus and plastic hats?
CF: [Laughs] No plastic hats. We were at a Ruby Tuesdays getting a "hangover meals" and I always love a fountain soda after a night of drinking. So I ordered my Coke, and was slurping it down when the glass slipped out of my hand and spilled soaking the front and the back of me. The walk back to the car was very wet, cold and sticky.
2NR: Sweet. Three things guys want to hear a girl say: Wet, cold and sticky.
2NR: Besides drinking sodas, what do you do for fun?
CF: Since I'm on the road a lot, my top priority when I am home is to make time to catch up with my friends and family. I also enjoy reading, graphic design and I write a lot of poetry as well.
2NR: poetry? Spit a line at me!
CF: It's very personal stuff. I don't really share it. It would give away what a softie I am.
2NR: pretty please, with an unspilled fountain soda with a cherry on top?
CF: ok, fine. Let me try to remember one: you have a way of making it so I can't be angry...even when you know I should be. but I miss you so much it just drives me crazy...I just want your arms to be holding me.
2NR: Stop, you're making me blush!
2NR: Any other hidden talents?
CF: I'm double jointed. I have the best hitchhiker's thumb, ever! I can bend my thumb back to like a 90 degree angle!
2NR: Looks like you're pointing at your elbow. So if you were to ever hitchhike, what car would you get in?
CF: A Skyline R33 GT-R
2NR: Serious? Wow, good choice! I own a white one!
CF: No way!! I'm jealous.
2NR: We both cook spaghetti and were in band, I'm clean (relatively) and you like GT-Rs, we're a match made in heaven![More eerie silence] Waitress!!!
