It is with great honor we welcome back Elissa Alva in Super Street! We introduced her in 2011; today, she’s looking as stunning as ever. We also have so much respect for this girl—she’s basically a real world Superwoman being a single parent, workaholic and a full-time student! Now, she’s a recent graduate of CSU Sacramento and continues to work hard to make a better life for her family. Much props, Elissa!
SS: What do you do for a living?
EA: As of right now I just model and work as a server at a Japanese steak house. Yeah I know... I’m really putting that Bachelor’s Degree to use, huh?
SS: What’s your ethnicity and do you speak any languages?
EA: Mexican and Chinese. I can speak Spanish at an elementary level. Haha! And Chinese, I can understand but I sound like an idiot speaking so I just pretend I don’t understand. However, after a drink I somehow become fluent in both!
SS: Any nicknames?
EA: Growing up my family called me Bee, Precious and Leesy.
SS: Tell us one interesting hobby about yourself.
EA: When I get really stressed out, I like to get into Chinese watercolor.
SS: What are some of your biggest pet peeves?
EA: Bad tippers, people who don’t use their turn signals while driving, cabinets and drawers that are just left open.
SS: Guilty pleasures?
EA: S’mores, instant noodles and In & Out.
SS: What do you do if you’re bored?
EA: Oh goodness… I kill way too much time watching marathons of TV series. The worst is when I really have nothing to do and I will get so hooked I pretty much watch an entire season in a sitting. Should this be filed under guilty pleasure?
SS: What drink would you order at the bar?
EA: Either a Patron lemonade or Henn and Coke—never on the same night, of course!
SS: How much do you know about cars?
EA: I worked at a body shop for over two and a half years. I would say I know a decent amount about cars more specifically the body and structure rather than the mechanical side.
SS: What cars have you owned?
EA: Started with an ‘88 Toyota pick up truck to learn how to drive manual, then an ‘88 Accord. From there a ‘96 manual Civic Coupe, mind you this was around the release of the first Fast and Furious so I was feeling pretty awesome! I remember racing the boys off our school campus. Then I had another Accord, this time a ‘98 sedan to accommodate my baby on the way. In addition to my mommy mobile I bought a manual Scion tC to make me feel a little less…domesticated? Haha!
SS: What are some of your biggest achievements?
EA: Juggling being a single mom, going to school full time, working to provide fully for my son and myself, traveling as the official spokesmodel for the Wekfest Tour and somehow maintaining a long distance relationship all at the same time. I guess out of that my biggest achievement was just graduating from college despite the madness!

SS: Where are you from?
EA: Sacramento, CA born and raised.
SS: What is your dream car?
EA: Oddly, I don't really have one. However I do have my eyes set on that 2014 Porsche Cayenne Turbo for my next Mommy mobile ;)
SS: The most embarrassing song on your iPod?
EA: "Cars that Go Boom" by Tigra and Bunny. I wouldn't say it’s embarrassing though. I love it because it reminds me of my years in high school driving around and getting into trouble, haha. How do you people not know this song?! haha.
SS: How did you get into modeling?
EA: I kind of fell into it. My cousin asked me to go with her to a photo shoot she was having with a local photographer. I went not expecting anything but to be the cock-blocking friend that fends off pervs. One of those times she had me jump in and shoot with her. I was feeling totally uncomfortable and awkward but long story short...images went up on myspace and I got approached for gigs and more photo shoots.
SS: What’s the worst pick up line?
EA: “You could go so far in modeling. Have you thought about getting into modeling? I have a large network in the industry, I can make you famous.” Um, EW. No thank you. I cannot stand guys who think they can have their way with women based on how much money they have or who they know. Not all women are shallow, materialistic, or swayed by the possibility of fame - no sir not I.
SS: What’s your favorite drink?
EA: Oh! Tea lattes! Specifically, this peppermint tea latte the coffee shop by my house makes! It’s so refreshing that I almost think I don't need caffeine. Or did you mean adult beverages? Depends on my mood I suppose, Patron-Lemonades for my crazy nights out and about and a good Riesling or Pinot Nior for my lazy nights in.
SS: Who is your inspiration in life?
EA: My inspiration in life is a mixture of my grandmothers, my mother, and my son. My Chinese grandmother for being strong enough to continue on after losing her husband to cancer and then her son (my Dad) three short months following.
She is my motivation to persevere through any possible challenges life has to throw at me. Last but not least, my son. He is my inspiration to just slow down and live more light heartedly.
SS: Ewoks or Minions and why? EA: Minions hands down! Well only the normal yellow ones. Those purple ones were too much for me. I didn't even know what an Ewok was before I Googled it a minute ago! They're kind of scary!
SS: Weird phobias?
EA: Not so much anymore. Proudly I got over them. The weirdest one I had was with germs. As a kid I washed my hands after touching everything! I refused to eat anything my hands touched bare. I would eat up to where my hands touched the bread sticks for instance and leave the ends on my plate as if it were pizza crust or something.
SS: Favorite part of your body?
EA: I would have to say my dimples and my neck. My dimples because I learned to love them after being made fun of as a kid for having them. My neck because it gives off the illusion in photos that I am taller than I actually am in real life, haha!
SS: Favorite place to visit?
EA: Chicago, New York, or of course Hawaii! However, I’m pretty confident my answer will change after touring with WEKFEST to Japan in May!
SS: What’s next for Elissa Alva?
EA: Finishing up this post-graduate certificate at CSU Sacramento and hopefully getting my career going! Oh! and planning my wedding! I kind of just take things as they come and go with it.
SS: Anything you’d like to say to your fans?
EA: I LOVE YOU!!! I am just blown away with the amount of support I have been blessed with over the years.
