Have you picked up the July 2013 issue of Super Street yet? If you haven't you're missing out on some good stuff (you'll be able to find it all here soon), like our latest cover for instance, featuring Claudia Alan! Here are some exclusive behind the scenes photos and more insight into the mind and background of Claudia, one of our favorite born-and-bred Cali girls.
SS: What do you love about L.A. the most?
CA: Man. That's a tough one. The better question would be, what don't I love about L.A.? There's this quote I saw on a store front that said "This is L.A., 2 tales, 1 city. Where the sun sets across the endless coast to legendary streets. Everywhere to go, everything to wear. Welcome to the other side of town. You are here. L.A." I mean I could honestly go on forever about how much pride I have for this city. Growing up here was a blessing and when I'm old and gray I'm definitely going to tattoo, "To live and die in L.A." This is the city my grandmother and parents first came to from Mexico, it's in my blood, and this city made me and my family what we are today. Hope that answers your question.
SS: Who is your inspiration?
CA: Easy, my family. Every day I see and remember all they have done for me and I can't help but in my daily life do all that I can to make them proud.
SS: What's the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
CA: Right Thurr by Chingy...or any rap song from '00-'07. What can I say, 'youuu crank dat soulja boy.' Haha!
SS: What's the most memorable pick-up line you've ever heard?
CA: Asian man on the street: "Do you have any Asian in you?" Me: "No." Him: "Would you like there to be?"
CA: I find myself having to apologize a lot for missing friend/family gatherings. It really sucks. Most of the time it's because I have to work. It's too bad but I made a commitment to my job for certain things but sometimes family get togethers just spring up. I just hope I don't have to keep missing too many gatherings because at the end of the day, it's family first!
SS: We heard about one of your worst dates, what would you consider the perfect date?
CA: *romantic sigh* The perfect date. It would be a warm summer day where he picks me up and takes me on his private jet to Cancun. Haha, just kidding. But really, a warm summer day, the kind of days where it stays light out until 8, and even at 8 it's still warm. He would probably take me to an Italian dinner (Italian is my favorite), somewhere where we could sit outside on a patio and drink wine. Then after dinner we'd do something super random and spontaneous, like go to a hill top and look over the L.A. skyline or go stargazing!
SS: Biggest turn on?
CA: Genuine, nice, sweet, kindhearted, optimistic, goal driven people.
SS: Star Wars or Lord of the Rings?
CA: Star Wars, never seen a single entire movie of either, but I pick Star Wars because I absolutely love the ride at Disneyland.
SS: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
CA: In ten years, I'll be 32. So by then hopefully I will have traveled, a lot, and really seen the world and have experienced other lands, cultures, and people. And by then have learned a lot about myself as well. Also, by then be accomplished and stable to the point where I could have a husband, maybe a house, maybe a baby? Ahh, who knows. It's a little overwhelming yet exciting to think about. Whatever happens, I know I'll be just fine, being happy and healthy are my number ones though, so hopefully I'll be both.
CA: That they are positively the freaking best. I honestly have such faith in humanity, in strangers, in tolerance and acceptance after reading all the nice, positive, sweet, kind comments I get on my Instagram; which is why I try to reply to everyone. I just hope I make their day better and that they can feel my positivity through their phone, tablet, laptop, or wherever they are viewing my pictures. I really do wish them all the best and I undoubtedly appreciate their support beyond words.
