Making cross-country treks seems to be a theme among the models in this year's Toyo Tires x Super Street Calendar; Ms. August, Bryn, made hers from Chicago to L.A. after surviving the 2019 polar vortex and did it in a first-gen. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado that was imported from Japan. The journey sounded a bit sketch, because as she describes in her bio, the SUV's turbo inline-4 diesel 2L-TE has a notoriously weak head, so it meant thousands of miles of keeping tabs on the engine, many cool-down breaks, and averaging only 56mph for the entire haul. But she also admits making the trip was one of the best decisions she's ever made.
Super Street fans know Peter Vong from his Honda F22C-powered '77 Toyota Celica that we featured in 2016 and an LS1-swapped S14 that was in the magazine in 2011. From his impressive stable Peter loaned us his timeless 1994 Supra for the calendar photo shoot, an A80 outfitted with CCW Classic wheels, Nardo Grey paint from Audi's color palette, and a built 2JZ-GTE that churns out 700hp.
