DAMD Toyota 86 Vantage Revealed

JDM tuners channel British sports car for latest kit

Aug 13, 2015

Cosmetically crossbreeding a Toyota 86 with an Aston Martin Vantage – sports cars from opposite ends of the pricing spectrum – has admittedly never crossed our minds, but clearly the guys at JDM tuners DAMD have been thinking about it. They’ve recently come out with their 86 VANTAGE program, a suite of exterior and interior mods that sets out to make the Japanese coupe a bit more British.

The kit includes an Aston-styled front bumper cover (with huge maw) that runs about $1,190 US, rear bumper cover for $676, and trunk spoiler that goes for $386. Smaller bits consist of front fender garnishes for $225 (which replace the 86 boxer badges), 86VANTAGE emblem for $79, D mark hood emblem for $47, and heated side mirrors with anti-glare blue coating and integrated LED turn signal indicators for $113. All save for the emblems can be color matched to OEM paint for an additional fee.

Inside, DAMD offers some color flexibility in its product. Seat covers that go for about $306 US come in either black with red stitching or tan with brown stitching. Steering wheels with red stitching or in “Formula” style sell for $386 each, or you can get the same two as carbon fiber wheels for $467 apiece. DAMD also carries gauge cluster kits for $386, in Type-SB sports black, Type-SW sports white, or Type-LS luxury sports. A center armrest for $145 and air conditioning dial ring for $121 complete the cabin upgrades.

The jury is still out on whether this is something we would ever rock, but we wouldn’t be terribly surprised if some fearless soul decided to import the entire set Stateside (maybe for the SEMA Show?) Frankly, we’re not sure whether to laugh, be appalled, or be genuinely impressed. For more info (in Japanese only), head over to the DAMD website.
