Green Hell Lap Times (Sorta...)
As super as our own Super Lap Battle is, there is no lap more super than the Green Hell itself, the Nrburgring Nordschleife. Getting the fastest lap around the 20.8 km 'Ring is the ultimate in automotive bragging rights, and many manufacturers are now sharing their own cars' 'Ring lap times as a way to sell sports cars. A Lamborghini Muricelago LP640 can run the 'Ring in just 7:47, while the Porsche Carrera GT can run the same lap in just 7:32. But what about the cars that the average Super Street reader can afford? Well, those cars ran the 'Ring, too, and here are their lap times in no particular order.

World's Fastest Honda Civic (Really)
We bet you think your Civic is the fastest car out there-especially since you finally got around to installing that knock-off cold air intake. Well, we hate to burst your bubble, but Lucas Oil is the only entity that can rightfully claim ownership of the World's Fastest Civic.
Sporting a host of go-fast goodies-including, but not limited to a Killer Bee Racing-built B18C, Eagle internal components, a Dart block and head, Turbonetics T72 turbo, Spearco intercooler, MSD ignition and Borla exhaust-this Civic set a new record in the Blown Gas Competition Coupe class at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Pilot Richard Holdener achieved a two-way average speed of 207.5 mph in this 517 whp Civic, besting the old class record (set way back in '91) by over 11 mph.
D1 Says, "America-F*** Yeah!"
Yes, we know that the D1GP professional drift series has been coming to the U.S. since, like, 2002 or something, but there has never been an official D1 points series on this side of the Pacific. That's set to change in 2008, as the good folks at the D1GP will be running a full season right here in the good ol' U.S.A. The champion drivers from this series-which hits Irwindale Speedway, Moroso Motorsports Park, Thunderbolt Raceway and one TBD location-will be invited to go head-to-head with the best drifters from Europe and Asia at the D1 World Finals, also conveniently held at Irwindale.
