No more nismo?
Nissan has announced plans to halt its North American motorsports activities for Fiscal Year 2008, meaning that all NisMO racing operations will be put on hold. You will not see any Nissan or NIsMO-sponsored race cars this year, which is a definite bummer. that said, this hiatus will not affect the NIsMO parts division, so you can buy all the Nissan-engineered performance accessories your wallet can handle.
Depheartment Of Korekshuns
We erroneously forgot to list the uRl for the North American arm of Vogtland springs. It is www.vogtland-na.com. After watching too many re-runs of snoop Dogg's new show, we also wrongly took it upon ourselves to call eIC Jonathan Wong "J. Wizzle." We have been informed that we are only to refer to him as "sir," "the artist" or "Your Highness." Duly noted, you Jackass.
Classic Super Street
We should call our March 1998 Issue "Nostradamus" because it showed early sketches of Mitsubishi's creatively-named Concept sports Car-a car we would later know and sorta love when it became the 3rd-gen eclipse. We even got all eduma-cational on y'all as we taught the basics of drag racing and road racing.
Hyundai Drift Car?
Hyundai revealed its Genesis Concept Coupe at the 2007 los angeles International auto show, and if you ask us, this car will be the next big thing in our scene. like the Genesis sedan concept that came before it, this Coupe concept is rear-wheel drive and is powered by a 300+ hp V6-a great thing for enthusiasts. No concrete details are known, but Hyundai is promising that this car will deliver "a G37 driving experience at Mitsubishi eclipse prices." We've also heard from some very credible sources that Hyundai is looking to build a u.s. drift team around this car. We'll find out more when the production version of this car hits showrooms in the spring of 2009.
Nitto Wins 25 Hours Of Thunderhill
a BMW 318i, sponsored by Diffsonline and shod with Nitto Nt01 street tires won the 25 Hours of thunderhill endurance race. this car won its eO class, a class that requires all cars to run only D.O.t.-approved tires. No slicks here, kids. the Nitto-wrapped Bimmer managed to complete a total of 615 laps-five more laps than the second place finishers. Much to everyone's surprise, these tires performed well despite the intermittent rain showers, proving that Nitto makes a pretty good all-around sports tire. Congrats on the win, guys.
Gary Gardella Goes Drifting
Not content to rest on their laurels, championship drag racing team Gardella Racing have announced plans to enter the drift world. Gardella Racing will be building and maintaining a car for our favorite Noreasterner, Ryan "Hampshaa" tuerck. look for this new team to make its debut during the 2008 Formula Drift season.
