Scion's IQ - Can The Small Car Make A Killing?
That's what Scion is hoping for with the iQ, a tiny two-door concept that was debuted at the New York Auto Show this past spring. Already available in Japan as the Toyota iQ, this small car is going to be aimed at urban hipsters and trendsetters, whoever they are and however old they may be. Scion's VP, Jack Holis is hoping it'll be just as unique as the xB and if it does happen to join the Scion family, it'll come with plenty of customization accessories to make it a truly personalized vehicle. Tetsu thinks the iQ could be a great car for the US market (see Tetsu's Tales) since there are already plenty of performance mods available in Japan so let's hope those same parts will carry over to the US model if it indeed makes its way over. Of course, there's also rumor of a rear-wheel drive sports car, too. We'll take both, please, Scion!
Hyundai Genesis - The RWD Savior?
Alright, if you haven't given yourself a chance to head out to a dealer and test drive a Genesis coupe, now's the time to do it. Filling the void in the marketplace for an affordable RWD sports car and even the spot the S2000 held for so long, the Genesis is one hell of a car in either form (turbocharged 4-cylinder or V6) and from what we can gather from tuners who have had a chance to play with them, this car has the same potential the Civic had years ago when B-series engine swaps were just starting to make it big. The stock versions of these cars leave so much room for improvement we're just wondering why Hyundai didn't drop these sooner. Well, we're glad they're out now. BBC recently filmed a documentary on a new type of automotive lover, literally. Dubbed scientifically as "metro sexuals" - and not the kind who are into shaping eyebrows, sport Cool Water cologne, and deck out in sheer male blouses or Affliction shirts - these guys find the utmost self pleasure when in the company of an automobile. If the thought alone doesn't disturb you, check YouTube and see if this might be a condition you might be suffering from yourself! Just don't write in to us if you are.
