Falken: D.O.T. Approved
With increased public focus on the drift phenomenon, Falken is encouraging awareness and safe drifting with their participation of the Drift On Track (D.O.T.) Program. Together with the California Highway Patrol, Falken and their drivers have been going around select Southern California high schools stressing the importance of drifting and racing in safe and controlled environments.
"Falken wanted to take a proactive stance to help educate young drifting enthusiasts and aid in voicing the importance of drifting safety," says Falken's brand manager Nick Fousekis. "We've been a leading supporter of drifting in the US since 2003 and truly believe it's our responsibility and the automotive aftermarket's responsibility to help protect and educate current and future drifting fans."
Starting in SoCal this year with a planned nationwide tour in '07, big props go out to Falken for going above and beyond the call of tire duty. Check with their Web site for more info and schedule. Just make sure you don't decide to ditch that day. falkentire.com

No relation to Jermaine Dupri's hip-hop label So So Def, Defi is renowned for a different kind of label-labeling your engine parameters. Offering every kind of gauge you can think of, Defi's name comes from the French word meaning "challenge." Now when you're taking a test on WWII history, you can write about France's lack of defi during Nazi Germany's blitzkrieg advance. Maginot line, anyone?

Those of the perceptive nature might've noticed the application chart came up short. Like Danny-Devito-humped-a-hobbit-and-their-future-spawn kinda short. The reason being was the guide was paying homage to the great Choose Your Own Adventure series wherein you would have to jump around in search of the next part of the story. In our guide's case the application continues here: ultimatewheelguide.com
Tetsu's Tales
Trick Tune
"One day, I went to Tsukuba circuit for driving my Hachi-Roku. I saw one '95 Corolla sedan on the race track which made good exhaust sound. Corolla's emblem said SE. Corolla SE has 1500cc motor but the Corolla sedan I saw at the race track was very fast. Faster than Civic Type R. I asked owner of the corolla sedan, why is this? He said that his Corolla had a 4AG 20-valve motor with TODA cams and pistons, FCR carburetor, and TRD transmission. The exterior tricked me. This Corolla is a wolf in lamb's skin.
Another guy had a R32 Skyline sedan and emblem says GTE. Skyline GTE has 2000cc NA motor but his Skyline has RB26DETT GTR motor. GTE emblem trick many people.
I think it is possible to get 4AG 20-valve motor and you can build same Corolla sedan in the US. If you had Civic with B16, B18 or K20, put a DX emblem and you can trick your friends (and police?). Exterior is a slow car but motor is nice and good. It is trick tune. It is one of Japanese tuning style. It is a wolf in lamb's skin. How is this tuning style?"- Tetsu "Oh Rearree?" Ogushi
