Burnout 3: Takedown has to be one of the most addicting games of the year. It's a no-holds barred, screamingly fast race game that will leave gamers constantly wanting more. The only rules that count are fast, aggressive driving, the love of mass destruction on city streets, and the determination to win at all costs. Gamers will be racing on three continents and battling the competition through 100 different events on 40 tracks leaving behind only smoking piles of rubble and the splattered, mangled mess of vehicles belonging to lesser-skilled adversaries.
Burnout 3 takes arcade racing to a whole new level of speed and insanity. It's all about risks and rewards, and the more aggressive gamers are willing to be, the more gamers will win in terms of points, vehicles and medals. There are nine different race modes to choose from, and over 70 different cars to drive at breakneck speeds through all kinds of courses. Starting out, players hit the streets at 100+ m.p.h. racing flat out against the competition. Rack up race wins for new cars that steadily increase in speed and eventually have gamers racing at nearly 200 m.p.h. through busy city streets or a two-lane highways winding through snowy mountains. To earn big points and to fill up the vehicle's boost meter, gamers will need to pull their slickest moves by driving through opposing traffic, causing near misses while changing lanes, tailgating, e-braking or cutting off opponents and slamming them into a wall. The more boost, the faster the car goes, and staying in the top spots means having loads of boost is what it takes to win the race.
Crash mode still ranks as one of the all-time best game modes, as gamers are challenged to create the biggest, most explosive, multi-vehicle pile-ups possible. Ram cars, tanker trucks, buses, street signs and more on the way to million dollar damage claims and a chance to make the front page of the local "paper"--crash picture included. Also available is online gaming for both PS2 and Xbox and players get to choose from seven different game modes for both single and multiplayer action. After getting a taste of the ultra-high speed action of Burnout 3:Takedown, driving a normal car will never be the same again. Don't miss it.
