"Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater", the latest in the action series from Konami, is another top-notch addition to the already hugely popular series. Critically-acclaimed producer and creator of the series, Hideo Kojima continues to push the boundaries by taking gamers back in time to the early 60s, where a younger, much different Snake is sent on an extremely dangerous mission to steal the secret plans the enemy has to construct a nuclear weapon. Gamers are in for an action-packed, intense game that is deep and addicting to play.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is a long game, and gamers won't be able to race through this adventure in one day. The storyline is well thought out and keeps the pace of the story moving at all times, plus the new environments, new moves and infiltration methods keeps the game diverse and interesting. Gamers will find themselves on missions trudging through swamps, forest, and jungles having to rely on a variety of skills to stay alive and in good health. Hunting bad guys AND that night's dinner might seem like a bummer, but gamers will never suffer any any lag time or boring parts because the action stays consistent and well paced.
New to MGS3 is that players have to watch to make sure Snake's endurance and health don't get depleted. Gamers need to think things through first because, getting wounded or carrying too heavy of a burden too far can have drastic effects on Snake's health and endurance. The good news is that efforts made for food and rest, have a long lasting effect on Snake, and maintaining "good health" won't take away from the missions at hand since gamers won't be wasting unnecessary time trying to complete stupid little tasks to keep the life line strong.
One of new favorite additions is the Close Quarters Combat (CQC), a feature which gives Snake the ability to wield a knife in a fight, or to threaten the enemy and hold them for interrogation, or even to attack guards by slitting their throat before anyone suspects any foul play. To round out the game are interesting, well developed characters well played by excellent voice artists, and a superb soundtrack that adds a great deal to the mood of the game. Konami did a great job with "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater" by giving gamers a well-rounded, great playing, action game that fans will not be able to stop playing.
