Fans of the award-winning 2002 "The Mark of Kri" have waited a long time for a sequel, and finally, "Rise of the Kasai" is here. Updates throughout the game offer enhanced graphics, new tandem-based fighting, and online capabilities to tempt players with an exciting array of game options. An expansive game three times larger than Kri, "Rise of the Kasai" sends gamers battling through ten game levels searching for the truth of how the Kasai began and discovering old family secrets throughout the game.
Game developers worked hard to extend Kasai's playability by making it possible to play in different game modes, either single player or two-player offline or multi-player cooperative online. Plus, since gamers can play as one of four game characters (Rau, Tati, Baumusu, or Griz), it is possible to replay completed levels with any character letting gamers experience the story from four different perspectives. Fans of the series will be pleased to see old characters from Kri, but should be excited about the new characrters from Kasai, like Tau's kick-ass sister Tati, who is no wimp when it comes to taking out the enemy.
The fighting system from Kri has been basically kept in tact, but it has been upgraded to use a new dual fighting technology. Gamers will face battles with a partner, each one working the other to defeat the enemies. Single-player gamers will be partnered with an AI player, and gamers playing a cooperative online game will be partnered with another "human" teammate. Using the right stick to target up to nine enemies, players can set up combo moves to wipe out foes with a few clicks of the correct buttons. A nice detail to note is that the game camera will automatically orientate gamers towards the enemy during battle. Gamers can just concentrate on winning the fights, and it eliminates the frustration of trying to fight and fix the camera at the same time. Fans won't be disappointed as "Rise of the Kasai" succeeds as a sequel to "Kri" by offering gamers a deep storyline and a variety of gameplay options that extends game playability in cool, new ways.
