Adding insult to injury, the auto-targeting system is flawed so gunfights sometimes end in accidental death rather than victory. Trying to remedy the situation by manually aiming your pistol will result in an even quicker death.
Yet with all its kinks, The Getaway is still an ambitious effort, setting the pace for the interactive flicks of the future. At the very least, this Snatch-like scenario deserves credit for laying the groundwork for a new method of play-a genre that will surely see Hollywood and gaming further converging until the inevitable moment when you can't tell the difference between the cut scenes and the controllable exploits.-JMG
