United States Soldiers Memorial Day Tribute Readers Rides
Readers' Rides
Regardless of all the media attention surrounding our nation's motivation in the Middle East, one fact emerges pure and unscathed: the commitment of our US soldiers. Time and time again, our men in arms put themselves on the line every-damn-day, risking their lives in the hope that they can somehow make a positive impact on the world. Unlike profiteers from the effort, they get no bonuses or fat dividends from the billions in oil revenue. When they finish their tour, what they come home to is the humble satisfaction of a job well done and what they deserve is our gratitude.
In recognition for all the sacrifices we cannot even begin to fathom-the long hot desert days in a chem suit, yearning for a real meal back home or wondering why all the MREs come packed with Skittles and how much you hate tasting therainbow-here's to you. A small token of our appreciation for all the soldiers stationed near and abroad, until you all come back home safely like my boy Sgt Alex Tan of the 2/23 4th Marine Division and homies SSgt "Cisco" Jauregui, Sgt Owen Murphy, and LCpl Jason Choi, we willtoast our first rounds to you. May all yourMREs be hamburger patties, days cool and with showers, filled with football in the dirt, and all your patrols safe. Cheers, Salud, and Kanpai.
