Take A better Photo By Using A Tripod
For the next few months, we're going to help you get your car featured in our Reader's Ride section by offering some pointers on taking better photographs. Face it, if we can make a half-decent shot of a car, anyone can. most photos we receive from readers are taken at the same height, usually because it's someone standing a few feet from their car holding a digital camera with the Lcd screen at eye-level. Often, the photos are crooked and shaky. Using a tripod is a tremendous help in getting sharper photographs. it will allow you to get level and will also make it possible to shoot in lower, more flattering light. Once you get your camera on a tripod, make sure your car is fully in the frame with a little space on all sides. your camera should be aimed close to the height of your door handles, if not a tad lower. now that you have the camera on the tripod, we suggest using the auto timer to take the shot, just to avoid any accidental movement. We know not everyone has a tripod, so get creative. Use a toolbox turned on its tall side or a short stepladder. if not, consider the amount of money you spent on fixing up your car and ask yourself if investing in a $25 tripod is worth the exposure in a national magazine and possibly a sweet prize. We certainly think it is.
So use a tripod and send in a high-quality digital photo of your car with the minimum dimensions of 1500x1000 pixels (that's 1.5 megapixels).
