I was looking into possibly seeing if other manufacturers would fit into the engine bay, like a nissan or toyota engine. I have heard from a lot of different people that the rb26DET would fit into most cars given its size, and it seems like a possibility, or just the 4G63t that comes on the turbo eclipses. I'm not sure which engine/transmission package to choose, I'm open to any number of suggestions about any engine, or any car for that matter, provided i can find that car for cheap. Hit me up, let me know how or what I should look for. Thanks everyone!

Besides the sound everything is stock in it. I was hoping to change that. Problem is I don't have a whole lot of money but I am a soldier so I do get decent pay you could say... I have alot of questions about upgrading but I figured I would start with one... Where do I start? I just bought a AEM cold air intake, and I was wondering if that was a good place to start or what? any advice would be great, I love cars but I don't know a whole lot about tuner cars like I want to. This is only my second car, and I heard it was decent to upgrade one of these, so I thought I would give it a shot, I don't plan on getting another car. I wanted to get a body kit for it also, even though I know it's lame if I have nothing under the hood, but the reasson for it is becuasse it needs a paint job badly and I thought that it might save me a few bucks if I ggot the kit and then got the paint job for it. I am just curious about the do's and don'ts of upgrading, thanks.

Need advise/ help
With 280k on it, yeah REBUILD! LOL! The only issue that comes to mind is the condition of the block and head. So many miles makes things weaker and strees points are an issue in the areas that need hardness or stability for other components, like your crank and journals and stuff. Have the engine and head stress tested for cracks and weakness near and around the important areas. If you plan a turbo build, like you want, eliminate metal fatigue. If the areas in question are fatigued, get a new engine assembly. Start from scratch. Check on line for a good machine shop that tests for metal fatigue on engine blocks and heads. There should be some thing around. Check near you at a local machine shop to see if they do such metal fatigue tests on those components. I rebuilt an engine once and didn't check for metal fatigue and it cost me some coin. The block split and the custom crank split right along with it. If you don't want to spend the money on finding out just get a newer engine assembly and forget the rest. Some times it's just better to up grade. I ramble on a bit, sorry. LOL! Any way, as far as the build goes, you might want to get aquainted with a reputable machine shop that does performance stuff and see what is possible with in your budget and engines capabilities. Slapping a turbo on any thing will require some quality parts. After your build is complete a good tuner is needed to dail in the perfect parameter for peak out put and performance. Building the engine is not the hardest part of the build, even though it does require some serious skills. The tuning is the most important aspect once every componemt is installed. With out a good tune and a good tuner all those power goodies wil not work to their potential. Aasfar as parts go, you have to shop around and visit sites that are dedicated to your specific car to see what others have done. We can give you a list of goodies to think about, but in the end it's all general advice and only your machinist and engine builder can build it to your needs. Be realisitic about it, though. Don't expect Formula1 horse power for your every day ride. Stay under 500hp for a 4 banger and you'll like your ride a lot more than you'de expect. LOL! I say that, because I've been there, unfortunatley. I was young and over built a few rides that never got to be used as daily drivers... A cool rumble and stiff suspension were not admired very well by the ladies. :)

Pretty much as I understand it here are the steps. 1) It will not be a mazda(or orginal make), it will be a reconstructed body(A Kaizo). 2) DOT, EPA has NO CONTROL over an "assemblage of car parts"(You get the shell and a bunch of parts shipped to you) 3) You need to find a company such as Kaizo Industries (The only 50 state legal way to bring in ANY grey market car), buy a rolling FD Shell. They will sell you only the shell, without any engine, motor, or headlights, or wheels. An "assemblage" of car parts. 4) Kaizo is a registered manufacturer, so the car comes with an MSO (manufacturers' statement of origin). The car is no longer a mazda, nissan, or w/e else the car was. The car is a KAIZO now. It will be titled as a 2007/2008/2009 + Kaizo. The car goes through some restructuring to meet certain DOT Compliance, so it is not the same thing as what mazda sold to the public. 5) Car gets inspected and assigned a VIN. (You can get a california license plate too). 6) A stock 13B-REW is a federally conforming engine, so you can legally put it in your body. You can put w/e engine you want in it, LS1, 2jz-gte, name it. The RB26DETT is a federally conforming engine as well too. So this covers the Skyline GT-Rs. 7) Register your car in any state, when you are done assembling your car, and enjoy the fruits to come: Since the car is a legal kit car that is no longer what it used to be, apply for a 1 out of 500 california smog exemption. So, what the hell happened to kaizo industries? Who else can I get intouch with?

To tell you the truth I didn't either until november of last year when i bought this thing. Its called a Saab Sonett. It looks like a Datsun 240 or 260. The car is all fiberglass weighing in at about 1800lbs. Now since its so light it only needs a Ford Taunus V4 to get it to move. To tel lyou the truth it does the job, Speedo reads 120 and thats as fast as the thing will go, not bad for 64hp. Overall dimesnions are 46.5 inches tall, 169 inches long and about 60 inches wide. Since the car is fiberglass the whole care is about 5 pieces of body/chassis: The front end, the 2 doors, the rear body section and the chassis itself is one piece). The car also features pop-up headlights, am-fm radio, an 8 track, FWD, 4 speed(needs a 5th for highway badly) and several other cool little items(seat belts especially). well enough talk heres a couple pics of the thing since I can't figure out readers rides. the pics are 1024x768 http://karmannghias.org/saab/beautyshot8.jpg http://karmannghias.org/saab/beautyshot7.jpg http://karmannghias.org/saab/partofthelineup.jpg http://karmannghias.org/saab/beautyshot4.jpg http://karmannghias.org/saab/interiorbackin1.jpg http://karmannghias.org/saab/interiorbackin.jpg EDIT: I forgot to mention the car is all original down to the stickers on the air cleaner.

It's a free forum! What could possibly be a real reason for not letting any one join? I am one to admit that I don't know every thing about all other car makes and some times I will try to join a forum just to get real answers to some questions that I may have about an issue I'm not familiar with. You all here are testament as to how I am in regards to other makes. I don't discriminate just because of brand or make, I may make a comment, but nothing that would discourage any one from making a choice of their own about a car. I joke from time to time, but I don't pass judgement. I just don't get it... If any one has some knowledge on the quad 4 engine that GM made some time ago, please pm me or some thing. The issue I have is with the power steering on a 95 Grand Am. It has no power assist at all. Really stiff steering wheel. No turbulance in the reserv tank at the pump. The pump is driven by the intake cam on the oppisite side of the drive belts, on the head. I just don't want to steer my customer on to the wrong part when I'm not familiar with the steering system of this car. (he,he! I made a pun!) I know that the steering system on all cars share a similar function, but how they go about making that function is what I'm not too familiar with. It may be a bad steering gear (steering rack) or the pump itself. This system is similar to the Chrysler type steering rack that's on the fire wall as opposed to being lower and mounted at the subframe. Any help is accepted. Thanks
