Sam has been an avid car enthusiast since his teens. Born and raised in Seattle, he began his professional life working at a European car tuner called Evolution Sports. After graduating from the University of Washington, he moved to California and started a new life in automotive enthusiast media with eurotuner magazine in April 2006. He served as eurotuner's feature editor specializing in photography, writing, event coverage, technical guides and more. In April 2011, he moved to Super Street magazine as the Senior Features Editor where he continued to excel in his line of work. In 2014, Sam became the Editor-in-Chief at Super Street.
