Hot Wheels Car Collection

Hotter Wheels
Boring loser-geeky people whose only passion in life is cars like to bag on our magazine because there's not enough technical articles in it for them. In response, we've whipped up the most serious tech piece ever to grace the rarified pages of Super Street. We're talkin' about how to change the wheels on your 1/64-scale model car.

Sixty-fourth scale is the scale that that is used for Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars. And just like real cars, they often come equipped with crapola wheels. No proper enthusiast should stand for this. Time to swap. Our project car is a '99 Civic DX manufactured by Maisto. We replaced the stock wheels with a set of white wheels (from a dump truck!) that look remarkably similar to Civic Type R wheels.

This operation is not for the average mechanic. If you do not have at least a masters in mechanical engineering and a garage full of tools, we fully suggest that you have a professional shop perform the work. This is a serious operation. No laughing or making fun of this article is allowed.

Remove the factory wheels. Install the new donor wheels. If you ground down the mounts to remove the factory wheels, you'll have to glue the new wheel axles in.
