Stock stereos suck. With a weak mid- to-high range, non-existent bass, and poor sound quality, most stock stereo systems can cause some serious “audio insanity.” Matt Ketteringham caught the audio upgrade bug, and his actions speak louder than words.

Slide into the front seat of his Eclipse and you’ll witness the raw power of a quality aftermarket audio system. In the center console lies the brain behind the crazy tunes that pump from this ride. An Alpine double-DIN CD player swallows three discs at a time, while feeding audio information to the rest of the system.

You get smacked in the face by the vocals and highs coming from the JL separates up front and then you get punched in the back by three JL Audio W6s firing in the trunk. The driving force behind the system comes from two Phoenix Gold amplifiers. Two Monster battery caps are added to serve up the necessary juice when the volume knob is turned clockwise. It may not go up to 11, but it comes close. We like.
