Just when you thought you were done tweaking your Cavalier, something new is released. Sure, you added a header and an exhaust to find yourself running some better times at the track, but what next? Wait, I just had a Vizzion. Vizzion Power Systems of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has just stomped its foot down as a leader in J-Body performance with its new Stage II turbo kit for the LD9 engine. Though the future of J-Body performance lies in the Ecotec platform, Vizzion was wise not to overlook the thousands of LD9 owners out there. The kit will fit any ’96-’02 2.4L Twin Cam engine (LD9) for the Chevrolet Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire, both automatic and manual. A Vizzion turbo kit for the Ecotec is slated to be out this fall. Joe Kenefic, owner of Vizzion Power Systems, also flew out to Cali to perform the install in person (this luxury does not come with the kit—we’re special). All we needed was some shade and Eastside Muffler of Palmdale, California, was nice enough to let us invade their garage for a day. So after talking shop and installing some 18-inch Motegi Racing MR4 wheels on our Cavy, and dropping it to the ground, the engine was attacked with reckless abandon.

Here was the canvas we started with: an LD9 engine with an AEM short ram intake and power pulley, an after-cat exhaust and some fuel upgrades—basic bolt-ons for true street performance—but boost was on its way.
