We know how difficult it can be to work on cars; believe us, we’ve had more than our share of problems over the years, too. Good thing we’re willing to share this knowledge of problem solving with you and act like we know something technical about cars. Feel free to ask us about your tech problems by writing to us at tech@superstreetonline.com or Super Street, Attn: Tech Support, 831 S. Douglas St., El Segundo, CA 90245. We’ll try out best to answer your questions but can’t answer every one we receive personally or in print, so if your issue is urgent, we highly recommend you seeking the help of a nearby mechanic! Also, try to do some basic research online; while the Internet and forums aren’t all foolproof, it is a very good start as there are many excellent resources to look at. If it helps to include a few photos to describe/illustrate your problem/project, please do so.

Winterize me!
I own a modified 1995 Eagle Talon TSI and live on the east coast where it snows sometimes in the winter months. I store the car in the garage with a car cover all this time. Are there any other steps I should consider so my car will run properly during this hibernation stage? I heard of some product called “Sta-bil” fuel stabilizer. Do you commend this product?

Winter?
What’s winter? We live in LA and have one season all year, it’s called just right. All kidding aside, if you plan on storing your vehicle for more than a month it’s a good idea to add a fuel stabilizer. Aside from lawnmowers we don’t have any first hand experience with the product but it has a pretty decent reputation. If you ever plan on storing a car for more than six months we’d recommend draining the gas tank completely and refilling it in the future.

86 my Corolla?
I recently purchased an ‘85 Corolla LE and am trying to decide the best place to start my tuning process. Through my searching all I have found is parts for the GTS and other RWD configurations. Seeing as the chassis codes are the same are the suspension and other parts not pertaining to the engine and trans interchangeable? I plan on doing a engine and trans swap down the line but right now am concentrating on the basics: suspension, intake, exhaust and brakes.

Actually the chassis codes aren’t the same, what you have is an AE81 and what you want is an AE85 or AE86. We don’t have much experience with your particular chassis because, well, it’s pretty lame, but we do know that virtually every piece aside from miscellaneous nuts and bolts are completely different between the FWD and RWD Corollas. Sorry man.

Ralliparts for the ralliart?
A couple of days ago I read a back issue which had the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback in it and I have to say that it caught my eye. So now you’re reading from the owner of a brand-new 2011 Sportback Ralliart edition. The only problem is that I’ve never built a Mitsubishi before so I have no idea who would be good to get parts from for my new Sportback. Any way you can help me out to get me started?

Did you actually read any of the article or just look at the pictures Jose? We’d recommend starting in the same places we did with brands like: DC Sports, KW, SSR wheels, ARK design, Seibon and K&N. Due to the popularity of the Ralliart new parts are still being developed all the time, we recommend checking out evolutionm.net and heading over the Ralliart forum for the latest news.
