It’s easy to let your garage turn into a chaotic mess, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Here, Marissa shows us a few free and/or low-cost ideas to help control your space, so that you can put the attention where it needs to be: on your car.

Organization starts with keeping your tools and supplies from cluttering your garage floor or workplace. Here you'll see some of our power tools, extension cords and other miscellaneous equipment secured to the wall via hooks.

Don’t just throw your bolts, nuts and any other miscellaneous hardware into a bucket—you’ll never find the size you need, unless you like sifting for hours. Instead, break them all down by size into individual bins (see inset). You can find these at most major hardware stores; if you’re lucky, you might be able to cash in on Craigslist by finding listings on businesses that are going out of business.

Your tool cart should start as clear of clutter as possible from the beginning of that day’s project. Use a magnetized strip on the side to hang various hand tools, like screwdrivers, wrenches and the like, so that you can free the top for sockets and air guns.
