Badged as the 240SX, they were basically the American brothers of the Japanese Silvia with the exception of the engines. The JDM model got a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine called the SR20DET while us Yanks got a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder known as the KA24DE. We could spend hours arguing which motor is stronger and has more potential, but in the end many experts agree the SR is a better package. Compared to the KA, it require less money and labor hours to get reliable and solid power—just a few bolt-ons can net you 300+whp. Because of this, SR motors have been hot item for years.
